November of 2000 was very hectic as I was studying
for my boards. I had not had much time to spend with Michael
so I was very excited when he proposed a dinner at our favorite
restaurant. This did not seem unusual, as Michael had taken
me out for many romantic dinners. Thursday came, and we had
a wonderful meal. At the end of our dinner I wanted to order
dessert, but Michael said he had arranged it at another restaurant.
Again, I was not the least bit suspicious as he always has
romantic ideas. We then went for a walk. It was a clear cool
night. We walked along the river and when we got the the bench
that he had taken me to on our first date, he got down on
one knee and asked me to be his forever. Of course, I said
yes! By that time I had completely forgotten about dessert,
but Michael said he had one more surprise. He led me to a
quaint little restaurant on the water where there was a private
room just for us waiting with champagne, flowers and a violinist.
On the table was my favorite dessert, strawberry cheesecake.
I will never forget this day. It's only the beginning of our
perfect life together.
